Future Prospects / Design Trends of 8 Office Spaces in 2022

According to a report by the National Bureau of Economic Research, from small businesses to large companies, approximately 70% of companies will adopt a hybrid model, where employees work part of the time in the company and part of the work at home.

This change will bring new design challenges and major changes to the workspace. These changes require creative thinking.

From these changes and challenges, 8 trends in office design have emerged. Let’s take a look:

1. Create the comfort of home in the office environment

People have become accustomed to working at home, so the design of the future will give priority to the comfort of the working environment.

Some items that can create comfort can be placed, such as plush carpets, soft seats, and corresponding convenience facilities (such as dry cleaning shuttle services). These items will become necessities of the office.

2. Multi-regional distribution to improve employee concentration

In the past, open-plan workspaces were not distributed by region. They were more like working in a coffee shop environment. In such an environment, employees’ attention was more easily distracted, let alone creating higher productivity.

Therefore, the design trend in 2022 is to divide discussion areas as well as private working spaces and divide different areas more humanely, so that employees can better engage in work.

3. Material information tends to be transparent

People are now more and more concerned about whether the materials used are safe and environmentally friendly, so some businesses have come up with a way to describe each raw material in text in the material label so that employees can see at a glance and have a better understanding of the raw material and source of the product.

4. Use sustainable products

The choice of materials is equally important to employees and designers. Many products now use environmentally friendly materials.

For example, Mohawk Group, the largest environmentally friendly manufacturer in the flooring industry, uses environmentally friendly materials in more than 500 products and provides customers with convenient production methods, allowing customers to use plastic bottles as environmentally friendly materials and make them into usable carpets.

5. Use silencer products

The carpet is not only good-looking, it also plays an important role in creating a quiet working environment.

Mohawk Group's carpet attachment has been tested and has become a high-quality product for noise reduction, even on hard floors.

6. Combination of nature and work environment

Human beings are innately close to nature. This kind of closeness cannot be given by cold computer monitors, work desks and incandescent lamps.

Therefore, in the work environment, you can add more natural materials, such as wood and plants, to create an environment where nature and people merge.

7. With decompression products

Since the natural world will be showing a complex model that showed a reduced role in scientific research.

So Mohawk Group cooperated with Richard Taylor, professor of physics at the University of Oregon, and Austrian company 13&9 to use this model to produce a pressure-reducing floor system.

If installed in an office place, it will help alleviate the stress and emotions of employees and play a multi-purpose effect.

8. Flexible working space improves work efficiency

Flexible working space allows employees to have more choices, such as unallocated desks, cafe areas, casual-style rest areas, formal meeting rooms, and relaxing gathering spaces.

The office needs to create these spaces so that employees can freely and flexibly choose where to work based on their work content.

The design of these future office spaces has a very key advantage: making employees more dedicated and productive. Because the environment has a great impact on people, and these designs will create a comfortable environment where people can work more comfortably, thereby improving work efficiency.
