EDS led the design for EMAAR Shanghai and Beijing companies, treating the two projects as a twin design scheme. EDS spearheaded the construction of a prominent unit on the top of Taikoo Hui Tower in the center of Shanghai.
The EMAAR headquarters wanted an exhibition space that could fuse both Eastern culture and Western design. The project has a high glass partition ceiling and a remarkable daylight set-up. The design combines the unique geographical environment elements on site.
Gold is the color of ancient emperors, representing supreme power and achievement. In the selection of colors and decorative materials, a large number of golden elements and decorations match with partial red and green furniture. These reflect a vivid Chinese culture. With the marble floor, stainless steel-shape mirror, and the nine-meter-high artistic chandelier, the space becomes naturally atmospheric.
The designer also used shapes that reflect Chinese custom. Natural stone bamboos, magnolias, orchids, paintings with Chinese ink elements, vases, symbolic animal shapes, etc., are matched with a visual sense of warmth. One can always find Chinese charm in the details, creating a comfortable and stylish space.
With EMAAR’s office exhibition project, the designer appropriately integrated oriental aesthetics and modern elements to display a distinctive focal place, giving it a refreshing ambiance. By introducing natural lights and shadows, this project seeks to build a comfortable space amidst a busy urban crowd.
