EDS undertook the French L'ECLAIR design project in Xintiandi, Shanghai. The project covers both indoor and outdoor areas. The overall indoor space is mainly light and luxurious. The open space in the mall’s interior and exterior areas adapt warm textures. The wooden floor and the wood grain shape on the top surface divide the space in a subtle transition. It also provides the right indoor temperature.
The interior design pays attention to temperature, making the tone warm and friendly. The overall space pursues a concise, atmospheric, and durable form, and seeks to lessen strong visual impact. Since comfort brings emotional recognition, the bar counter or the partition furniture of the facade, the ceiling shape of the top surface, and more arc shapes are situated to promote friendly interactions. Every corner welcomes all customers. At the same time, this place becomes more comfortable with the use of marble and metal material. It is simple and atmospheric, coupled with the arched mirror shape that expands the space without losing its exquisiteness. The furniture is shaped with a rounded arc design. They are pink and gray-green with a touch of sweetness, and also highlight the theme of bread and dessert that are soft and sweet.
The external pendulum space design includes fluid movement of furniture and materials, taking into account people’s vision. In the venue, seating can be flexibly adjusted, and each independent space can be configured into a larger space through organic selection to meet the needs of groups of different sizes. At the same time, a large number of plants creates a small forest space that anyone can enjoy amidst a busy Shanghai urban life.
